OMG! The next time I wake up with the bright idea of laying out of work...would somebody please stop me?

I put Daniley down for a nap around 10am. I turned off all noise so I would hear her when she woke up. About noon, I checked on her by going to the door and listening. Sounded quiet as a mouse. If you crack the door, she wakes up because it squeaks. So no cracking. About 12:30, I checked again. This time, it was too long of a nap so I was going to crack the door. When I went to open it, it was locked. I did NOT lock it. I panicked. I tried to get a coat hanger and open it with no luck. By this time I'm calling Daniley and she isn't responding. I'm thinking, "Should I call 9-1-1, or Dan?" I know she's been up because she locked the door. I called Dan and he told me how to get in. First I couldn't get the door open, but finally I did (after more panicking). Dan asks me is this my April Fools Joke. NO IT'S NOT. I get in the door, and Ms. Mischief is standing over by my nighstand. She comes towards me and she's got something ALL over her. I do mean all over. It's on her face, in her hair, up her arms, on her clothes. Sometimes, it would do nice to be able to smell. I knew we didn't have anything too dangerous in the room so I'm thinking it's lotion or vaseline. I looked around but couldn't find any evidence. So we proceed to cleaning. But first, click on the pictures to see the goop in detail. (Make sure to use your BACK button or the blog will close.)

So we take ANOTHER bath. Wash hair twice more (that's 3 times today). I began to dry it and I realized we are in trouble. It's not coming out....for a while.... Then I tried to locate the Vaseline. I found it under her changing table. I knew that's where it was but why it never dawned on me to move that I have no idea. So when I find it, I also see she's pulled 100 wipes out of her wipes warmer, I guess to clean up...or maybe it was just fun. Then I find Vaseline everywhere. On the wall. On the changing table. On her shoe. On my nightstand. On my Pepper Spray. I know, go on and call CPS. On every door knob. On the outside of her passy. She put perfect petroleum handprints on Uncle Jerry's cookbook which I've been reading at night.

I cleaned up some of it and we just got the heck out of the house to enjoy the nice afternoon. Then we got to Chick-fil-A to get a drink and relax and play. The cashier asks me, "Is all that [wet hair] just from sweat?" OMG! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Well it does look like she just got out of the shower. I'm sure I have plenty of time to get a picture. It's not gonna just dry up. LOL.
I've found myself cursing a little bit under my breath. Somebody better start praying for me as a parent because it's going to be a long year or two, these coming up.
UPDATE:
Today has been a funny day! Although it wasn't easy, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. We make memories one day at a time. :-) I'm glad I took off today and spent a beautiful day with a beautiful girl! We did make time for shopping and the park too!
Here's the condition of things in my room:

Here's the hair. It's not wet. This was after two washings.

So my revenge was getting the vaseline out. :) Someone told me to try cornstarch. The more I put in the harder I laughed. Here she is dancing about to go in the shower, the THIRD bath today. :-)

I've been laughing all day...believe it or not as I was going through the bedroom finding the vaseline on things I was laughing. But here's something that was a little extra funny: Today I told Dan that Daniley got into the vaseline and got it all over everything. His reply: "You have to watch her." Stupid reply. I guess he didn't take me seriously. I didn't go over everything in there with a fine tooth comb, especially on his side of the bed. So about 6pm tonight, when he got to looking, and realized the vaseline was also on HIS things, it wasn't so funny to him anymore. LOL.

This weekend was wild. Daniley stressed me absolutely to my limits. I was crying by Saturday afternoon (due to events out of my control, with a little added stress from Daniley), and Sunday. We won't discuss Saturday, but on Sunday Daniley was whiney. I can't blame her too much because she has had a cold and hasn't been feeling well. But I was trying to cook and she was latching on to my leg. I put her on the counter and she fell off. Of course I was right there so I caught her. But I was thinking, "Good thing Momma is right here." Then I put her on my hip and continued to cook. She was grabbing at everything. When I walked over by the coffee pot she grabbed it while it was making tea (ie. HOT) and tried to pull out the whole pot. Luckily she didn't get burned, but by this time I was even more stressed and so I just burst out into tears. I'm working out some weekend child sharing so I (and the other couple) can get a little R&R. (My mom and grandma are off limits due to excellent childcare provided during the week! I love you both; You are so wonderful!!!)
Now that all this is written it sounds like a pity party. It's not! It's just my record of where we are right now...and to the people who always tell me how "together" I am....life sometimes just gets the best of me. It's motherhood; I love it; I wouldn't trade one minute of it for anything on this Earth!!!!
Happy Easter from Daniley and the rest of us!!

We don't have any pictures from this weekend because it was too busy to pick up a camera. We did not stop all weekend long. Daniley survived 12 hours of errands on Saturday with no nap and no stopping. She was even well-behaved. We got a new cousin, went to yard sales, attended a baby shower, shopped for an oven, went back and bought an oven, met with neighbors about a land deal, planted tomatoes, researched & serviced my new (used) serger, had lunch with acquaintances, and all the "other" things a general weekend brings. We were supposed to take my grandparents to Lloyd's and thank goodness they didn't want to go in the rain. I don't know how I would have fit it all in. It was a great weekend...on speed!

Quiz: Does Daniley look like anyone below? (Click the picture to enlarge it.)

Saturday night, after a brief argument with myself on how much I should spend on kids shoes, we went country line dancing. Daniley did real well, moving with the beat. We didn't get any great pictures of her. However, she did invent a new line dance. So complex the pros wouldn't even try it. It's called the "Hardwood Shimmey" and you just lay down on the dance floor and wiggle with the music.
You know you've had one too many--
When you're willing to do the Hardwood Shimmey.
That's going to be the lyrics of the country song she's gonna write when she learns to play the guitar.
Last weekend brought a nice trip to the park. She could swing for hours! In fact, now that I recall, she arrived here loving to swing. I remember hours she spent in her infant swing happy as a billy goat in a briarpatch. :-) It appears now that she also likes sliding down poles. Maybe she'll be a firelady...and not a dancer...lol.

This weekend was a good one. It is so amazing how that every weekend that goes by I realize how much MORE I love Daniley. We have so much fun together and I know she won't be little for long and so we just try to cherish every moment that we have together! She definitely is a Daddy's girl. Today her Daddy was outside working on the garden and when he came back in she ran over to him and latched onto his leg. For some reason, it made me cry. I think I was/am a little jealous that all Dadu has to do is show up. It's me that makes sure Daniley has food to eat, diapers to wear...I smile at her with every butt wipe. But it seems to be her Dadu that she loves the most (that's right Dan, I admitted it finally). This Saturday I got up before sunrise to rock her into the dawn. I noticed how her legs go way past the edge of the rocker now. She's twice as long as she was. And all so fast. Sunday morning is the morning we get to sleep the latest (up by 7, that's sleeping "in"). I love this morning, because there's no alarm clock and we usually wake up to Daniley's sweet voice and smile. She always crawls over to her Dadu, and this morning she crawled onto his back for a "ride." GIDDY UP. Yeh right. Last night PawPaw and Debba came over for a quick PattyCake
and of course PawPaw brought Bobby and he took Daniley for a wild ride....
One of Daniley's girlfriends needed a babysitter Friday night so we were happy to have Sarah Katherine over to play.

After the walk, the girls wanted to take a little ride. Turns out, they aren't very good drivers.

Hey Daniley....you lost our cargo....

These two girls can get into some serious trouble...but between the two of them, they can usually find their way out of any hopeless situation...all it takes is teamwork....

Could someone PLEASE tell us how to back up?????

"Daniley, You're the best." "No, you are." "No, you are." "No, you are!"

This weekend, we hit an amazing milestone. Daniley answered a question I asked. This is how it went down:
I was sitting in the living room watching the news. Daniley had gone into the bedroom and I couldn't see her for a minute. I wasn't really paying any attention to her, until I heard a crying squeal. As I bounced to my feet, she came out of the bedroom and had some kind of liquid all down her front. My mind immediately went to possibilities in the bedroom, and all I could quickly come up with that's wet were baby wipes. She was sopping wet, so I knew that didn't happen from baby wipes. Then I panicked because I didn't know what it was. I scanned her for blood or other signs of injury. She appeared just fine. So then I asked her, in a panicked voice, "Boogies, what did you do?" She replied, to my dismay, "Dink Dink," as she turned and pointed to the now-empty glass of water setting on my nightstand.
There was almost no water on the carpet and the glass was empty. That pretty much explained it. Apparently she didn't appreciate a glass of cold water poured across her chest and belly. LOL.
Now I know you blog readers are probably thinking "Whoopti-Doo, she answered your question." But this was a first for us and I was absolutely speachless. I have been asking Daniley questions for 18 months and this is the first time I ever got a verbal answer.
She says tons of words, some are understandable and some are not. She is addressing people by their name. Yesterday in church Brooke was in the choir and Daniley went up to the front (we were letting her dance in the aisles) and yelled BOOOOOKKK. This morning Dan was pouring orange juice and we heard "O-Chay." She calls the pets by name too. She calls out the foods she eats (beyey=berry, yogio=yogurt, cacka=cracker, on and on). This is SO FUN! I cannot get enough of that sweet girl!!!

Last week we enjoyed camping in the Florida Keys. It was a good trip, although most people thought we were crazy. The only trouble was no good place to take a nap (you try to put a baby down in a sunlit tent and see how it goes). Despite this, there was enough new scenary to keep Daniley well occupied and happy, even napless! We will probably camp again next year, but most likely at a place much closer to home than Key West!

This picture says it ALL!
This is what she did when the supervision wasn't so super. LOL.
Happy Valentine's Day from a Heart Breaker!!!
We started our morning with some Cowboy Pancakes! Then we moved on to Reese's cups and other various junk! Daniley got a Valentine from her G-Paw and her LeLe & Maurice! From me and her Daddy she got some new sippy cups, 2 outfits, and a Wii game (Fencing, so she can just throw the controllers around through the air, hahaha).
This weekend we went to a birthday party (Happy Birthday Jaxson!). Daniley had a great time playing and was one of only three girls at the party. She could definitely take her pick and lucky for her there were lots of VERY handsome boys at the party! ;-)

Although Daniley saw a snow last year, I was unable to be with her due to professional obligations. So this was our first snow together! First, the snow was kid tested & mother approved.
Daniley played in her car. We even went offroad...but then the snow got all clogged up in the underside and I ended up having to carry the car and the passenger.
This picture is here only as a reminder that Daniley never slows down. It's go-go-go wide-wide-open all the time. I love that she is so active because there's never a dull moment.
I made this little outfit for Daniley...the shirt fits more like a dress so I'll have to shorten it. That's what happens when you get carried away with ruffles. LOL.

Before church this morning, Daniley was playing Cowgirls and Indians. She was both the Cowgirl...and the (wild) Indian.

These other pictures were of me chasing Daniley around the yard with my camera. I was trying to get a picture with the following requirements: 1. Looking right at me 2. Eyes really blue (just the right amount of light in them) 3. Smiling. Well I got some really cute pictures but not what I was going for. We had a good time playing chase though. :-)

One of my favorite pictures....
Daniley loves her Dadu!
(and he just doesn't care anything about her at all, can't you tell?)
:-P

All she ever wanted was a life as a cashier!
(Man, what some people do when they don't know they're being filmed) :-)

Happy New Year

Daniley was an astronaut for New Years Eve. This is kind of my own little made up tradition...dress in something fun and go to dinner. :-) We had a blast.
Then on New Year's night Daniley's first cousin James Dexter spent the night with us. It was freezing but I put them on 2 outfits each and we went out to play! Dexter couldn't handle the gloves so he had to wear the pink mittens. :-)
Then we dressed in our new Cowgirl paraphanelia and went off to Publix. This is THE CUTEST outfit...and the Wranglers are big so we'll get lots of use out of them and the belt too!
